ICC to Offer New Courses for Summer and Fall Semesters

Interested in a career in Hospitality Management? Culinary Arts? Phlebotomy? Or are you looking for a fun class such as Cooking for Geeks: The Science of Cooking or Bake Shop Productions? If the answer is “yes” then you are at the right place at the right time!

Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Certificates are structured so students can take classes of interest, or all classes, within each program to gain a certificate of completion. Currently, these programs are two separate areas of study, yet provide information and skills which will complement each area. These courses could benefit restaurant, hotel and/or casino employees. ICC will offer a short course this summer for students to explore the culinary program, Bake Shop Productions. This course will be held Mondays and Wednesdays 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. at IHS.

The Culinary Arts Certificate program begins August 11, 2012 and includes Sanitation and Safety, Food Production, Food Preparation, Purchasing and Inventory Control, Nutrition for Culinary Arts, and a Culinary Practicum. Instructors in this program are Rhonda Hunter, Cindy Kiser and Mendi Clark.

The Hospitality Management Certificate begins August 11, 2012 and includes Sanitation and Safety, Human Resources Management/Supervision, Hospitality & Restaurant Management, Controlling Food Service Cost, and Managing Customer Service. Instructors in this program are Joe Schaid, Jan Fischer, Cindy Kiser and Nancy LaBatt.

Cooking for Geeks: The Science of Cooking will be held during the fall semester for those students interested in the science behind cooking. This class will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 – 7:30 p.m.

Phlebotomy Essentials and Phlebotomy: Clinical Application will be offered this fall at ICC West. These courses will prepare students for success as a phlebotomist by providing current techniques and practical experience.
